I guess my first topic of discussion should start with the equipment. Being a "hobby" painter I just can't justify spending $500+ on an elaborate paint gun. I did a LOT of research before I decided on what I hope is a gun that I can "get by" with. I'm sure you will CRINGE, but I bought a Harbor Freight model 66222 (1.4mm) gun. It gets VERY HIGH ratings so I hope, again, to get by with it. Bill in SC

should work fine...I have a few Devilbliss guns that were under $100, spray like champions..lol....My "go to" gun is a Binks M1g, think i payed $300..most expensive one I've ever bought.
Besides even the best gun wont spray a magic finish..takes lots of practice to get it right...Cutting and buffing can help make up for a not so great finish...haha

Thanks for the reply, ABD. I heard that about the practice. The good thing about painting, metal work, or carpentry, if ya screw up, it CAN BE FIXED! I am anxious to get started. I may fetch some paint tomorrow. Bill in SC

I agree, there's no need for a $500.00 gun. I've used them, they don't impress me. My favorite gun right now is a Sharpe SGF - HVLP gravity feed. I have 2 of them. I paid $150.00 for one from my paint supplier and $25.00 for the other. I love eBay. For primer, I have an Astro gravity feed. I have a few others too.

I feel better hearing from some pros that a cheap gun "can" get the job done. I'm headed off to Myrtle Beach today to a car show. The only reason I'm going is to get ideas about color combinations and to check out some flat paint jobs.
