I found your site searching Yahoo for someone to chop a frame for me. I have a 1993 XL1200 sporty. I stripped the bike down to the bare frame. I was looking at a few aftermarket frames to put the engine into. But the bike has extreme sentimental value to me and I would like to know if it is sensible and affordable to have this frame mortified instead. I am looking to go 6 inches out and 6 to 8 inches up. I would also like to use the original tank mounts if possible. I have a custom painted 97 Dyna tank that I put on it a few years ago. The mounts seem to be able to be placed anywhere along the backbone but I may be wrong. Can you please let me know if this could be done. I am close in NJ. Can send pics of frame as well if needed.

Also does the SN stay with the frame?? Cause NJ has some wicked custom laws and it would be a big help if the SN stays on the frame...

Yes, that can be done. We just use the factory neck with the factory numbers and add material from there.
